Relocating Pets to Monaco
Monaco, officially the Principality of Monaco, is a sovereign city-state and microstate on the French Riviera. Gorgeous and glittering Monaco is a tiny royal principality on the French Riviera. Less than two square kilometres in size, it is perhaps the most glamorous little stretch of land on the planet. A place of sublime natural beauty, Monaco has the lush vegetation and balmy weather of the Côte d'Azur.
Monaco is a pet friendly place to travel to. While relocating with pets, it is important to keep the following things in mind-
- The first step is to microchip your pet with a 15 digit ISO compliant pet microchip.
- All pets must have proof of the current rabies vaccination.
- A rabies titer test must be administered after waiting for a minimum of 30 days after administering the rabies vaccination. All samples must be processed at an approved laboratory. If test results are within acceptable limits, your pet can enter Monaco 3 calendar months after the date of blood sampling.
- For non-commercial regulations the owner or a legal representative of the owner is traveling with or within 5 days of the pet and the transport does not involve purchase, sale or transfer of ownership.
- A licensed veterinarian in the originating country must complete the non-commercial EU certificate for Monaco within 05 days of travel.
- In case of commercial transportation, A licensed veterinarian in the originating country must complete the commercial EU certificate for Monaco within 48 hours of travel.
- All pets must enter Monaco via Côte d'Azur airport in Nice, France. Pets may enter as checked baggage, in cabin or as air cargo.
- Pets should enter Monaco directly through France or transit through another EU Member State. If your pet transits through a high-rabies country, then a Transit Declaration will be required stating that your pet has had no contact with rabies-carrying animals and remained secured within the airplane or airport.
- All pets must be free of evidence of disease communicable to humans when examined at the port of entry to France.
- The following list of breeds are The following breeds are not permitted import to Monaco (Category 1): Staffordshire terrier and American Staffordshire Terrier (Pitbull terriers) without pedigree registration, Mastiff (Boerbull) without pedigree registration, Tosa without pedigree papers.
- The following breeds can be imported to Monaco with restrictions (Category 2): Rottweiler (pedigreed), Staffordshire terrier and American Staffordshire Terrier (pedigree), Tosa Inu (pedigree). These dogs must be registered with a pedigree which is recognised by the French Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries. Also included, non-pedigree and cross breeds dogs with "the appearance of a Rottweiller".
- Owners of Category 2 breeds must be adults in good standing. Dogs must be registered with local authorities. It must be muzzled at all times when in public and is not permitted at public gatherings or places where children are present.
