Kyrgyzstan, officially the Kyrgyz Republic, is a mountainous landlocked country in Central Asia. Kyrgyzstan is one of the most beautiful countries in Central Asia. Kyrgyzstan has gorgeous wild mountain pastures inhabited by modern semi-nomads living in summer yurts, as well as large alpine lakes dotting a landscape characterized by charming villages.
Kyrgyzstan is also a pet-friendly place to travel to with your pets. With multiple pet-friendly hotels, tourist spots and so on, it makes a great destination to explore with your furry companion. While relocating with pets, it is important to keep the following things in mind-
- The first step is to microchip your pet with a 15 digit ISO compliant pet microchip.
- While a rabies titer test is not mandatory, all pets must have proof of the current rabies vaccination administered between 30 days and 12 months prior to entering the country.
- Other vaccinations include, for dogs: Rabies, Distemper, Hepatitis, Leptospirosis, and Parovirus.
- For cats: Feline Vioral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus and Panleukopenia.
- A licensed veterinarian must complete the Veterinary Certificate for Kyrgyzstan prior to travel.
- An import permit is not required when entering Kyrgyzstan with personal pet.
- All pets may enter Kyrgyzstan via Manas International Airport just north of Bishkek.
- Pets can arrive in the cabin, as checked baggage or as air cargo. Upon arrival in Kyrgyzstan you will present the documents and the Veterinary officer stationed at the entrance port will stamp them.
- All pets must be free of evidence of disease communicable to humans when examined at the port of entry.
- Kyrgyzstan does not publish a list of banned breeds.
