Barbados is an eastern Caribbean island and an independent British Commonwealth nation. With its pink sands and emerald-blue waves, Barbados has one of the most unforgettable coastlines in the Caribbean. The beautiful country boasts spectacular natural scenes, an authentic culture and plenty of things to do with both friends and family on vacation.
Barbados is also a pet-friendly country to travel to with your four-legged companion. While relocating with pets, it is important to keep the following things in mind-
- The first step is to microchip your pet with a 15 digit ISO compliant pet microchip.
- All pets must have proof of the current rabies vaccination minimum 35 days prior to entering the country. Rabies vaccine must be administered after microchipping.
- A rabies titer test must be administered after waiting for a minimum of 30 days after administering the rabies vaccination. All samples must be processed at an approved laboratory. If test results are within acceptable limits, your pet can enter Barbados 90 days after the date of blood sampling.
- A licensed veterinarian in the originating country must complete the Health certificate 07 days prior to travel. Copy of rabies vaccination and titer test must be attached and endorsed.
- An import permit must be obtained from the Veterinary Services Department for all cats and dogs. The permit is valid for 6 months after the date of issue.
- Internal and external parasite treatment is required within 07 days of entering Barbados.
- All pets must enter Barbados at the Grantley Adams International Airport in Seawell, Christ church as air cargo.
- You must also make arrangements for the country veterinarian to meet your pet on arrival for inspection.
- All pets must be free of evidence of disease communicable to humans when examined at the port of entry.
- Barbados does not publish a list of banned breeds.
