Relocating Pets to Argentina
Argentina, officially the Argentine Republic, is a country in the southern half of South America. Argentina is one of the most awe-inspiring countries in the world, with dramatic glacial landscapes, legendary tango performances, impressive wine and food scenes, and of course, cities like Buenos Aires.
Thanks to the open attitude of Argentina’s denizens, abundance of city parks, great weather year round, and low cost of pet care services, makes it an ideal place for pet owners. While relocating pets, it is important to keep the following things in mind-
- The first step is to microchip your pet with a 15 digit ISO-compliant pet microchip.
- While a rabies titer test is not mandatory, all pets must be vaccinated for rabies not less than 21 days and not more than 36 months prior to entering the country.
- An import permit is not required when entering the country with a personal pet.
- A licensed veterinarian must complete the Veterinary Certificate for Argentina 07 days prior to travel.
- Pets must be treated against external and internal parasites within 15 days of travel.
- Pets can enter the Argentina via Ministro Pistarini International Airport in Buenos Aires.
- Notice should be given to veterinary officials so they will be available to inspect your pet upon landing.
- All domestic dogs and cats must be free of evidence of disease communicable to humans when examined at the entry airport.
- Your airline must notify the station manager at the point of entry, at least 24 hours prior to arrival, giving notice of pets on board in order to ensure the attendance of the veterinary surgeon at the arrival airport.
- Argentina does not publish a list of banned breeds.
