Pets are an important part of our lives, their comfort and safety are paramount. Whether at home or during travel, taking care of the minutest details to safeguard their comfort becomes pet parents' priority.
During travel, the most important task is to book a pet-friendly flight. Qatar Airways is one of the prominent airways that are well known for their pet-friendly flights. Renowned as one of the most luxurious airways, Qatar Airways is headquartered in Qatar Airways Tower in Doha.
Here is Qatar Airways Pet Policy International to guarantee your pet a safe and comfortable journey.
Pet Acceptance
Qatar Airways accepts domesticated dogs, cats, and birds as checked baggage on your flight or a separate one, under international air travel regulations. Customers are kindly advised to notify Qatar Airways of their intention to travel with a pet at the time of booking or at least 48 hours before departure to ensure timely service.
Documentation Requirements
Travel regulations require all necessary documentation for your pet to be available before travel. This includes a health certificate signed by a veterinarian and identification or pet passport (vaccination record).
Service Dogs
Service dogs are accepted within the passenger cabin on certain routes free of charge for passengers with disabilities. However, on all other routes, the service dogs will be accepted free of charge as checked baggage within the aircraft hold. Service dogs are not allowed in the passenger cabin in all countries. So, check with the Qatar Airways call centre regarding the limitation when booking your ticket. Not all countries allow service animals/emotional support animals in the passenger cabin, so it is crucial to check for any limitations with the Qatar Airways call centre for the countries in your itinerary.
Pet Crates
The travel kennels in which the pet is being transported must be spacious, of proper size, and of a design that is suitable for the pet, escape-proof, and robust. Not more than one pet is accepted in a single container. However, Qatar Airways may refuse the transportation of any animal if it considers the container to be too small. An IATA-approved fibre crate is usually recommended to ensure safety.
Pet Food
Qatar Airways recommends providing enough food and water for your pet's journey within their crate or kennel, as you will not have access to your pet during the journey. Food and water containers must be affixed within the shipping container with provisions to fill them from the outside. Water bottles or similar dispensers attached inside or outside the container are not suitable for refilling. If food is not provided by the owners, Qatar Airways ground services staff will provide food every three to four hours (up to two hours before departure), and water is changed every hour, provided the water container can be refilled from the outside.
Health, Breed, or Age Restrictions
Qatar Airways does not transport certain breeds of dogs and cats due to an increased risk of heat stroke when exposed to stress or temperatures above 21°C (69.8°F). These include:
