Emirates Airlines does not permit pets to travel in the cabin, except for guide dogs for the blind.
Checked Baggage Pet Policy
If your pet is too big to travel in the cabin, is an animal for than a dog or cat, or is on a long-range flight, then they may be eligible to travel in the cargo hold under the passenger aircraft cabin. The cargo hold area of the aircraft has the same pressure and temperature just like the cabin area.
Pets Allowed In-Cabin
The pets allowed In-Cabin are:
- Dogs and Cats: Breed restrictions apply.
- Birds: Restrictions apply.
- Falcons: Allowed in certain routes.
Age
Dogs and cats travelling must be at least 4 months old.
Route Restrictions
- The maximum transit time in Dubai is not more than 6 hours.
- For birds, the travelling time for the total journey time should not be more than 17 hours.
- It is not allowed to fly into the UK, South Africa, Brazil, Australia, Hong Kong, and the United Arab Emirates.
Crate Requirements
The requirements for the travel kennel or the crate are as follows
IATA-compliant crate with metal hardware, featuring:
- Length: Pet length + 50% leg length + 7 cm. (minimum additional 17 cm)
- Width: 3 x pet width
- Height: Pet height + 10 cm
Bird Restrictions
They can't travel if they are wild-caught and not acclimatized. Species under CITES requirements require prior approval to travel in cargo.
Pets Policy for Air Cargo
A wide range of animals are allowed to travel through Emirates subject to specific conditions
- Dogs and cats (with breed restrictions)
- Warm-blooded animals, except those producing offensive odours (such as skunks and minks) or poisonous animals (such as reptiles and insects) unless between qualified agencies.
- Sheep and goats in limited numbers.
- Pigs of any size or breed are not accepted
Required Forms

- Health certificate issued within 10 days of travel.
- Proof of rabies vaccination.
- All forms are required by the destination country.
Comfort Stops
Warm-blooded animals with transportation times exceeding 17 hours will require mandatory rest stops at Dubai International Airport (charges apply and are the responsibility of the shipper/consignee).
Sedation
Personally sedated or tranquilised pets are not accepted, except unless transported between qualified agencies with a certificate from a qualified veterinarian.
