The first step towards relocating your pet to China is to find out in which section your country lies.
To start with the actual process, get your pet Microchipped. The microchip has to be a 15-digit ISO-compliant chip. It can be implanted by a local veterinary doctor. And should be implanted before rabies vaccination.
In China, pets can be relocated as manifest cargo or along with the pet owners. Import Permit is not required if the pets accompany their pet parents, but if they travel as a manifest cargo, an import permit.is mandatory.
You need to present a vaccination card, Rabies certificate or EU pet passport. It should have the name of the vaccination manufacturer, administration date, validity date, batch number and other relevant details. Rabies vaccination has to be administered between 30 days before the departure date to 12 months after arrival. 2 doses of Rabies vaccination and Titer test reports are mandatory to be presented to Chinese authorities to avoid quarantine when arriving in China. Other vaccinations that are mandatory for the pets are:
● Cats: Feline Distemper, Peritonitis, and Feline Leukopenia.
For pets coming from non-designated countries including India are made compulsory to submit the titer test report. The pets have to be microchipped first, then should be administered rabies vaccination twice. The rabies test has to be conducted on the day of the second dose of rabies vaccination or after that. Please note that the vaccination report is valid for 12 months. The titer test report mitigates the risk of quarantine on arrival to China.
You should present a verified health certificate authorized by a government-approved veterinary doctor. The health certificate should be made within 14 days before the date of arrival to China. Along with the health certificate, copies of the pet parent's passport should also be submitted.
The name on the passport and that on the health certificate should match.
