Relocating Pets to El Salvador
El Salvador, officially the Republic of El Salvador, is a country in Central America. El Salvador may be the smallest country in Central America but it's certainly one of its most charming. Less touristy than its neighbours, El Salvador is rich in natural beauty, pristine beaches, countless volcanoes, many Maya ruins and a great culture and rich history.
El Salvador is also a pet friendly country to travel to with your pets. While relocating with pets, it is important to keep the following things in mind-
- The first step is to microchip your pet with a 15 digit ISO compliant pet microchip.
- While a rabies titer test is not mandatory, all pets must have proof of the current rabies vaccination administered between 30 days and 12 months prior to entering the country. Panleukopenia vaccination for cats must be administered between 30 days to 6 months prior to travel.
- A licensed veterinarian must complete the health certificate for El Salvador prior to travel.
- An import permit must be obtained from Animal Quarantine Department in San Salvador.
- Pets must enter El Salvador via Monseñor Óscar Arnulfo Romero International Airport.
- Pets can enter the country in the cabin, as checked baggage or as air cargo.
- All pets must be free of evidence of disease communicable to humans when examined at the entry airport.
- El Salvador does not publish a list of banned breeds
